Tindle announces launch of the Chepstow Review

Tindle Newspapers has announced the launch of its latest paid-for newspaper, the Chepstow Review and said that more launches are on the way.

According to the Newspaper Society: Until now Chepstow was served by the Tindle Group’s Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Review, the biggest weekly newspaper in the Dean and Severnside with an audited circulation of 44,527.

Now the Chepstow Review, selling at 40p, will focus mainly on local news in the Welsh border town of Chepstow and include the outlying towns and villages of Caldicot and St Arvans, the publisher said.

The paper will also span across the border serving large English communities like Sedbury and Tutshill plus outlying villages such as Shirenewton, Mathern and Caerwent.

Editor Mark Bristow said: “The Review already has a strong presence in Chepstow and is extremely popular among local residents. The new paid-for paper will build on that popularity with a mission to reach out and talk to residents without fear or favour. A local paper, representing local interests at all times.”

The Chepstow Review is the eleventh local weekly paper launched or bought by Tindle Newspapers since the recession started and more are promised in the next few weeks, the publisher said.

The Tindle board of directors (Ray Tindle, Brian Doel, Wendy Craig and Sue Yates) said they were delighted with the launch and congratulated Attracta Astley, managing director, Nikki Lewis, general manager, Mark Bristow, the editor, and all their colleagues on a “magnificent effort.”
