WAN-IFRA has announced the appointment of Martin Froehlich as director Digital Revenue Network. Froehlich, a native German, was previously a deputy head of newsroom at Redaktionsgemeinschaft ostwestfaelisch-lippischer Verlage and has been in the industry for more than 25 years.

During his career, they added, he worked as a reporter, editor, media coach, head of department, project manager, moderator and technical adviser. In the last decade, his focus lay on the digital transformation of editorial processes, products, management and writing. He led several projects in this field and knows about the challenge of transforming thinking and doing that have been dominated by the print channel for a long time.

Froehlich started his career at a small local newspaper and later joined a much bigger company. He holds a degree in history from Bielefeld University and is also an experienced author in the fields of health and sports, says the organisation.

According to WAN-IFRA, in his new role, Froehlich will lead WAN-IFRA activities in the Digital Revenue network. He will also help to develop new programs and strategies to enable our members to meet the needs of the fast-changing media industry with a focus on digital transformation. “It is a real privilege to be working for WAN-IFRA and to be given the opportunity to contribute to the development and sustainability of an industry I’ve spent 25 years in,” said Martin Froehlich about his appointment.

“I’m truly humbled by the confidence and trust that WAN-IFRA’s management has placed in me in leading the Digital Revenue Network team and will do my best to repay that trust. I look forward to working with partners and members of WAN-IFRA to meet the challenges of our fast-evolving news industry and hope to in some small way contribute to its success.

“I am delighted to have Martin Froehlich join the team. His experience and knowledge of the news media industry and the daily processes in newsrooms will be a great asset as WAN-IFRA continues to support media companies on their way to a digital future,” said Thomas Jacob, Chief Operating Officer. “Froehlich’s work will provide further momentum to our efforts to support the industry in its quest for generating revenue from its digital offerings.”
