World Publishing Expo Closes on Successful Note

Almost 7,000 visitors from exactly 100 countries – the largest number of countries in the history of the event – attended the World Publishing Expo, which closed in Amsterdam yesterday.

The 44th annual exhibition included 225 exhibitors from 29 countries, including printing press manufacturers, editorial and advertising system providers, new media providers and other suppliers to the industry.

The 7,000 visitors represented a slight decrease from the 2013 Expo in Berlin, Germany, but the number of chief executives and decision makers remained high, says WAN-IFRA.

“I am really pleased with this year's show,” said Vincent Peyrègne, CEO of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), the organiser of the event. "This year I saw a lot of positive and creative thinking. The vendors not only showed their products and services, but they shared their visions of the future of news and news publishing.

"There is value in innovation, and the Expo is the place where we see this innovation, and where we facilitate contact with the innovators,“ Peyrègne said.

The World Publishing Expo brings together suppliers to the industry with its thought leaders and decision makers. In addition to the exhibition, which showcased the latest technologies, the event featured about 100 speakers sharing their success stories, three Media Port stages focusing on the power of print, new revenue sources, and content, and three premium conferences on tablets & apps, newsroom issues, and the future of printing news products.
