Artists & Illustrators launches new way to buy art online

Artists & Illustrators, one of the UK’s leading magazines for artists, has unveiled a new website.

Artistsandillustrators.co.uk is a social network for artists making it easy for the community to buy and sell artwork, with no commissions or hidden catches.

Art galleries often take up to 50% commission on a painting: great news for the owners – less for the artist or the customer. The new Artists and Illustrators website proves that finding unique works of original art needn’t be difficult or expensive.

The new website introduces Portfolio Plus – a premium service for the UK’s flourishing community of grass-roots artists. As part of their membership, artists are able to share, showcase and sell their work in online exhibitions, write their own blogs, get exclusive access to special offers and invites to gallery openings.

The website also features a resource of market-leading painting advice, written by a panel of renowned experts; while Galleries and Art Societies are able promote upcoming exhibitions and keep their pages up to date via Twitter.

Steve Pill, Editor: “There are thousands of fantastic artworks available now and fresh work being posted up every day.

And with price tags on display and direct contact with artists, we want to make buying original art a more friendly and enjoyable experience.”

Luke Bilton, Publisher: “Artists & Illustrators has an extremely loyal and passionate audience who love to create art and share their portfolios with us.

The new website creates a shop window for their talent and with the introduction of Portfolio Plus – creates a new business model in the process.

With the new website now live in time for Christmas, we hope that both art buyers will take the opportunity to discover truly affordable art, and buy direct from the artist.”

Artists and Illustrators is published by the Chelsea Magazine Company.
