Independent publisher Blackmore Vale Ltd has signalled further intent to grow its portfolio in the West Country after announcing the appointment an editor-in-chief to oversee the expansion.
A family-run publisher, Blackmore Vale Ltd says they are preparing to launch their fourth magazine - The Salisbury & Avon Gazette - the company has also unveiled Paul Jones at the helm.
The Gazette joins The New Blackmore Vale, The New Stour & Avon and The Purbeck Gazette in the firm's stable, reaching around 500,000 readers each month, says the publisher.
Blackmore Vale say they only started their first magazine in September 2020 with no previous publishing experience – and have also revealed plans expand the portfolio with a magazine set to launch in Somerset in the coming months.
Former Archant SW group editor Jones, will manage the editorial output of the titles, as well as overseeing new launches, added the publisher.
Before joining Archant, the 43-year-old was editor of Newsquest's four Somerset newspapers and websites, including the County Gazette and Bridgwater Mercury, commented Blackmore Vale. He also previously worked at Newsquest dailies the Worcester News and Swindon Advertiser, as well as at Sky News in London.

Meanwhile, the group has also confirmed The Purbeck Gazette, which was acquired at the start of the year, has now started publishing fortnightly, having previously been a monthly magazine.
