Cox Media Group selects DTI

Digital Technology International has announced that it has signed an agreement with Cox Media Group (a division of Cox Enterprises), Atlanta, GA, to install DTI’s next generation multimedia publishing solutions at all Cox Media Group newspapers.

The deal covers The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; Cox Ohio Publications (Dayton); Palm Beach Newspapers Inc.; the Austin American-Statesman, as well as each paper’s community publications.

The implementation will be in a centralised data centre that will help Cox achieve its goals for enterprise-wide standardisation and business efficiency.

"We are getting out of the customization business. We need to find ways to leverage our best talent and eliminate legacy costs to increase operational efficiencies,” said Doug Franklin, executive vice president, Cox Media Group.  "We are evaluating all areas of our enterprise and decided that if there was ever a time to consider changing our primary vendor partner, this transformational time in our industry is it. After a thorough study of the market, we elected to continue our almost 20 year partnership with DTI and install their next-generation solutions.”

The new systems, which include DTI ContentPublisher for multimedia news production and DTI Advertising with order entry and accounts receivables and billing, combine to create a total enterprise-wide publishing solution.

Cox Media Group recently signed an agreement with DTI to install DTI Circulation, the market-leading suite of circulation, distribution, marketing, and reporting software. DTI Circulation is a central component of DTI’s Targeted Audience Solutions and helps retain readers, optimise single copy sales, and enhance relationships with advertisers while providing strong marketing tools and real-time management data.

“This is a significant project for both Cox and DTI as Cox intends to take advantage of DTI Cloud SaaS architecture by creating its own private cloud environment," said Dan Paulus, vice president, sales, DTI. "The standardisation on DTI solutions will deliver cost savings and the ability to collaborate across Cox properties.

“This project extends the strong partnership we have had with Cox since the early 1990’s and it establishes another cloud option for our business partners.

“DTI Cloud projects are already underway for individual content management and advertising systems with other newspaper partners, but this project combines news and advertising systems into a single publishing environment,” adds Paulus.
