evo launches on the iPad

Dennis Publishing has announced the launch of its monthly motoring title evo as an iPad application.

evo is the world’s leading specialist car magazine,” says Dennis. “Produced by world-class motoring journalists and racers, evo communicates the raw emotion of owning, driving and testing the world’s most desirable cars. It is widely known as the bible for performance car enthusiasts.”

evo’s iPad edition offers road tests, track tests and drive stories in the top performance cars with added video, sound effects, extended picture galleries and interactive features.

Designed and produced by the evo team, the evo app aims to deliver evo’s tagline ‘the thrill of driving’ to a new and exciting audience, reflecting evo’s ambition and dedication to providing its readers with “unparalleled access to the best motoring editorial on the planet”.

James Tye (pictured), Chief Executive of Dennis Publishing, said: “evo is our latest app to go live on the iPad and once again shows how quickly we intend to take advantage of this platform. evo follows in the footsteps of iGizmo, which took the number one slot in the Apple iTunes store and Monkey which went live earlier this month. To date iGizmo has seen over 35,000 UK downloads of each issue – that’s roughly 10% of all iPads in the country. I also expect Android versions of all our apps to be ready within the month.”

Nick Trott, editor of evo, commented: “evo and the iPad are a perfect fit. The iPad enables us to embellish our class-leading motoring writing and photography with fantastic video, sound effects, interactive images and features. Our philosophy for our print magazine is to deliver a rich and deeply rewarding insight into the world of driving, racing and owning the world’s greatest performance cars. The iPad edition is no different – the depth and quality of the content makes it tremendous value.”

The first edition of the evo app is now available to download for free; all editions thereafter will be priced at £2.99.
