Good Food launches iPad digital subscription

Good Food magazine’s industry acclaimed iPad edition is available as a digital subscription for the first time.

The monthly version of the magazine for iPad can now be purchased both through the BBC subscriptions website, www.bbcsubscriptions.com and within Apple’s app store.

iPad users can purchase a special introductory offer of 3 issues for £1 when paying by direct debit through bbcsubscriptions.com. Alternatively it can be purchased through the app store for £15.99 for six months at a 10% discount. It is the first time Good Food’s digital magazine has been made available as a subscription. The iPad version of Good Food was launched in February and has already been downloaded more than 100,000 times.

According to Rebekah Bilingsley, publishing director, mobile devices, BBC Magazines: “It is a natural progression for us to offer our highly rated digital magazine as a subscription. BBC Magazines operates one of the most successful subscription businesses in the industry and we are now able to tap into expertise that for our digital products. By integrating with Dovetail we’ll have access to data from our digital customers for the first time, meaning we can really start to understand our digital business.”

The offer will be promoted heavily through www.bbcgoodfood.com where Good Food has seen a huge uplift in online users on the iPad device, up 1231% per cent in the past twelve months as sales of the iPad has grown. It will also be promoted through the print title and other titles in the BBC Magazines portfolio.

Good Food’s iPad version has received five star ratings for its interactive functionality such as its ‘flip’ recipe cards, cook mode display, automated shopping list, glossary and exclusive technique videos.
