JPI Media editor-in-chief goes in shake-up

As reported by Ian Murray on the Society of Editors website:

Jeremy took over as editor-in-chief at what was then Johnson Press in 2015 after editing a number of titles in the regional press.

His departure was announced by JPI Media’s new executive chairman David Montgomery along with that of four other senior executives at the company: company secretary Peter McCall, group commercial director Andy Sumner, interim chief financial officer Cormac O’Shea and group development director Jason Rowse-Davies.

The move was announced to staff in an email from Mr Montgomery – and reported by Holdthefrontpage – thanking the departing executives for their work at the publisher and in particular in assisting the smooth transition to ownership by National World.

National World bought JPI Media for £10.2m in a takeover announced on New Year’s Eve.

In his email, Mr Montgomery said: “All five have played a key role in managing this group through a very challenging period in its history.

“Each one has shown enormous skill, commitment and professionalism in overcoming the challenges faced by the sector and have contributed to creating a business with a flexible technology platform and a strong digital ethos.”

As well as editing the Yorkshire Post and Yorkishire Evening Post, Jeremey edited the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph and Sheffield daily The Star. He previously worked at the Derby Telegraph, South Wales Echo and Leicester Mercury.
