News International moves to new Managing Editor structure

News International has announced that a new Managing Editor structure is being put in place across its four titles.

These unique new roles will support the title Editors in the implementation of editorial integration and redefine the way in which editorial budgets are allocated and spent.

Richard Caseby has been appointed Group Managing Editor, NGN, with responsibility for The Sun and the News of the World.

Anoushka Healy has been appointed Group Managing Editor, TNL with responsibility for The Times and The Sunday Times.

Rebekah Brooks (pictured), Chief Executive of News International, said: “This new structure will enable each title to share best practice and to focus more resources on front line journalism and content creation.

“We will take a comprehensive look at where there is common ground across our titles and where we should remain unique. Where there is common ground we will find ways of implementing efficiencies to editorial systems and processes and, where appropriate, we will find ways of introducing seven day working.

“I am delighted Richard and Anoushka have taken on these new roles. They both have the necessary experience and passion for journalism to fulfil this task.”

Bill Akass, Managing Editor of the News of the World, is appointed to Executive Editor of the News of the World where he will be responsible for executive development, regulatory compliance and general ombudsman duties signalling the importance of these areas for the paper. He will continue to report to editor, Colin Myler.

Graham Dudman, Managing Editor of The Sun, is appointed to the role of Editorial Development Director where he will have overall responsibility for developing training, talent and skills across News International’s four titles. Graham will report to Derrick Crowley, Group HR Director.

Rebekah Brooks said: “I would like to congratulate both Graham and Bill on their opportunities and thank them for the significant work they have both done in their roles as Managing Editor.”
