Papers launch pride campaign to celebrate good news

In a bid to help lift the gloom and celebrate good news, an Archant South West campaign has been launched by the Exmouth Journal and Sidmouth Herald newspapers in East Devon.

Pride in Exmouth and Pride in Sidmouth logos have been designed and are now being used within articles and on photographs to draw readers’ attention to good news.

Devon group editor Phil Griffin said: “There is so much negativity around these days that we felt we should do our bit to highlight what is good in our towns.

“We feel there is much to celebrate each and every week – whether it’s a youngster raising money for charity or an incredible tale of triumph over adversity.

“So each time a reader sees the ‘Pride’ logo, they will know it’s marking an article which will make them glow inside with pride.”

Articles marked with logos in the week of the launch carry headlines such as “Take a paws to help guide dog charity”, Cycle marathon challenge for plucky 76-year-old Tony” and “Thank you for returning my purse”.
