Reach appoints new editors

Reach plc yesterday announced a number of new editors in its Midlands region.

Reach appoints new editors
StaffsLive is one of the Reach brands to get a new editor: Julie Crouch.

Adam Moss is appointed to the role of Editor: Coventry, Leicester, Northants.

Adam has led impressive digital growth during his time as Digital Editor of LincolnshireLive. LincolnshireLive was launched in 2016 and has grown to become one of Reach's fastest growing sites during that time, says Reach.

Adam said: “There’s no doubt that the coronavirus pandemic has led to challenges for communities across the country and the journalists at Leicester, Coventry and Northants have been doing a fantastic job at serving up vibrant and informative local news coverage to their audiences during this time of crisis.

"I can’t wait to start working with the teams on all three sites and am really looking forward to helping them build on that success in the future."

Marc Waddington is appointed to the role of Editor: Stoke, Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Marc was previously Executive Editor, live news, at the Daily Post and North Wales Live. He joined the North Wales newsroom from the Liverpool Echo where, as City Editor, he was known, say the publishers, as a campaigning journalist who thrived on tough investigations and assignments.

In his new role, Marc will have overall responsibility for CheshireLive, StokeonTrentLive and StaffsLive.

Marc, who began his career at the Crewe Chronicle, which is now part of the CheshireLive operation, said: “I'm absolutely thrilled to become part of the team in Stoke, Staffordshire and Cheshire. It's a fantastic patch covered by fantastic journalists, and it's a real privilege to be working with them on providing first class content for our ever-growing audiences here.

“I began my career as a trainee reporter in Cheshire and have family in Staffordshire, so it's a great feeling to be working in a part of the country that I know and love."

Julie Crouch is appointed to the position of StaffsLive Editor.

Julie was formerly Editor of the Burton Mail. She will now take on the new role of StaffsLive Editor growing the digital audience in this area and leading the brand team in its new cluster.

Julie said: "I'm incredibly proud and pleased to be taking on this new role and, like the team, I'm looking forward to getting started on growing the Staffordshire Live audience."

Chris Mallett will take on the role of Northants and Warwickshire Editor. Chris has been Acting Editor at DerbyshireLive for the last six months and was Digital Editor before that.

He will be in charge of establishing Reach’s new brands in this area and growing their audiences.

Anna Jeys, Audience and Content Director Midlands, Cheshire and Lincolnshire said: “I’m pleased to be able to welcome Marc, Adam, Julie and Chris to the team in their new roles.

“Between them they have a great breadth of experience in growing digital audiences and I know they will be a huge asset to the Midlands.

“Each of the appointments announced today will help us to further engage with our local communities and continue to promote quality journalism in our region.”

As part of Reach’s restructure announced in July, Graeme Brown, Editor of CoventryLive, was announced as the new editor of BirminghamLive following the promotion of Anna to Audience and Content Director.

Graeme will be responsible for BirminghamLive, BlackCountryLive and the newly-launched WorcestershireLive brand.

Natalie Fahy continues as Editor of NottinghamshireLive, but also adds DerbyshireLive and LincolnshireLive to her portfolio of titles.

Martin Tideswell, Editor-in-Chief in Stoke, Mary-Ann Astle, Executive Editor (digital) in Stoke and George Oliver, Editor in Leicester, have all announced their departures from Reach.
