Charles Yardley: “We are delighted to be deepening our relationship with the British Fashion Council by taking on this new role of Associate Patron.”

The Evening Standard says the patronage, announced following this month’s London Fashion Week (17-21 February), marks an evolution of a 19-year partnership between the Evening Standard and the BFC. It sees The Evening Standard contribute to the BFC’s work to drive positive change within the fashion industry, leveraging the newsbrand’s relationship with Londoners and the creative industries that thrive in the city.

The Evening Standard has featured coverage of London’s fashion industry across its platforms, including the cultural and social highlight of London Fashion Week and City Wide Celebration, an exciting programme of events and activations that runs alongside LFW and is open to the public. This year’s ES Magazine Fashion Special edition was dedicated to the late Vivienne Westwood, with her granddaughter Cora Corré as the cover star. The magazine was available to all visitors in the BFC NEWGEN space during London Fashion Week, as well as through the usual vendor network across the city, says the publisher.

Charles Yardley, CEO, Evening Standard, commented: “We are delighted to be deepening our relationship with the British Fashion Council by taking on this new role of Associate Patron. London is one of the world’s greatest cities for creative talent and our audiences have a deep passion for staying up to date with the latest in fashion. We are excited to continue showcasing all the greatest moments from London Fashion Week while supporting the BFC’s relentless work representing diverse and socially responsible developments in the industry.”

Caroline Rush, CEO, British Fashion Council, commented: “We are delighted that The Evening Standard has formally joined our network as an Associate Patron following our long-standing relationship with them. Over the last nineteen years they have been a consistent supporter of London Fashion Week and together we have fostered almost two decades of authentic collaborations. It is through the financial and business support of our Patrons and Associate Patrons that we can continue to raise awareness and support to nurture the creative industries and designer businesses, protecting and securing the pipeline of talent to the industry. I look forward to working collaboratively with them to meet our goals.”
