The Wire launches app

The Wire Magazine has been released as an iPhone / iPad freemium app with 30-day subscriptions.

The freemium app was developed by Exact Editions, the London-based digital publishing company, which works with magazine, newspaper and book publishers to market and sell online and app versions of their titles.

Daryl Rayner, Managing Director of Exact Editions is "sure that the app will encourage a new audience of on-the-move music lovers. The photographs of Graham Simpson in the September issue look particularly sensational on the iPad."

The apps can be downloaded for free with some sample open access content and the opportunity to upgrade to the full version for a 30-day subscription through in-app purchasing.

Subscribers to the digital edition of The Wire can use their Shared Access Codes to access the app for free.

The 'freemium' model allows users to get a feel for an app before paying for it. In addition, The Wire app features pageflow for browsing, full search, double page view (iPad) and can be synced to an iPad, iPhone and iPod touch for offline reading.
