Express and AP announce photo distribution agreement

The Associated Press and Express Group Syndication have announced a worldwide distribution and licensing agreement covering the archive and contemporary images of the one of the UK’s leading newspaper photo archives.

Under the agreement, AP Images, the AP’s commercial photo licensing division, will offer to customers through its website tens of thousands of Express Group’s pictures from around the world dating from the 1900s through to present day.

“The Express Group archives are one of the world’s leading photographic archives whose images capture such diverse stories such as the announcement of World War I, the death of Queen Victoria, as well as the famous and the infamous from the last 111 years,” said London-based AP Images Director of International Business Development James Claydon. “This incredible resource covering so many truly iconic moments in history will be a huge draw for media buyers who rely on AP Images and we are delighted to be working with such a formidable and established presence in the industry.”

Express Syndication is the sole and exclusive rights representative of Express Newspapers and OK! magazine. As a syndication agency they control the copyright to all staff and contributed material from the following publications: OK! Magazine, The Daily Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star, Daily Star Sunday, DailyStar.co.uk and Express.co.uk.

They specialize in pictures, text, games and cartoons, and have an archive dating back to the 1940s for pictures and 1900 for text. Their collections vary from, royal, celebrity, music, fashion, politics, glamour, studio, news and features, all of which are either owned or contributed to them, and are available for reproduction in the publishing sector. With the launch of the websites Express.co.uk and Dailystar.co.uk, Express Syndication will also be offering online video content and video features from both publications.
