iGIZMO launches on Android

Dennis Publishing has launched its popular digital magazine, iGIZMO, on the Android.

The company worked closely with Adobe to deliver the magazine on Google’s Mobile Operating System.

The iGIZMO app for the Android was created using a combination of Adobe InDesign and its brand new Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. This allows Dennis Publishing to bring the “beautifully designed, highly interactive” editorial content of the popular iPad app to a wide range of Android devises.

Ross Burridge, Head of Emerging Platforms at Dennis Publishing, said: "It's great to see digital magazines really coming of age, and getting iGIZMO onto the Android platform is a great leap forward for Dennis Publishing. We've had overwhelmingly good feedback on the iPad version, and we're hoping Android tablet owners will feel the same."

"Getting great quality content out to as many people as possible is what we're really aiming for, and Adobe's tools scale brilliantly to deliver exactly that. We look forward to developing our digital magazines on a extensive range of platforms from the Blackberry to HP which we hope to launch later this year."

James Billington, Editor of iGIZMO, says: “I’m hugely proud about the debut of iGIZMO on Android. The magazine looks and works like a dream – it’s such a fantastic technological and design achievement. We’ve had great success on the iPad and with the sheer number of Android tablets now hitting the market we hope to entertain even more eyeballs, on even more tablets. We’re all about innovation, and bursting onto the Android scene shows iGIZMO is continuing its position as an envelope-pushing, pioneering product. We’re having fun taking our readers where they haven’t gone before.”

The first issue of IGIZMO to appear on Android will include tests and reviews of the world’s toughest gadgets, a look at the new Sony Ericsson Playstation phone and a feature on how to become a spy with a video interview with a former member of Her Majesty’s Secret Service. The issue will also include a mobile quiz, exclusive to tablet owners.

The new iGIZMO application is now available to download free on a variety of Android devices.
