IHT to launch Higher Education Section

The International Herald Tribune (IHT) will expand its education coverage starting in September with a weekly higher education section dedicated to the latest developments in courses for professionals and international academia.

Jean Christophe Demarta, international advertising director for The New York Times Media Group, said, “The education section will open up new opportunities for international advertisers to reach our engaged readership, which includes active professionals looking to develop or restart their careers and parents of college-age students. The section will further add to the breadth of world-class journalism the IHT carries.”

Each Monday, the section will cover topics like international cooperation among universities and technological advances in education, and it will regularly feature profiles of innovative educators and news-in-brief digests. Additional education coverage, along with archived articles, will be available online.

Among the roster of experienced contributors to the higher education section are D.D. Guttenplan, a London-based college teacher and author, and Vir Singh, a newspaper and magazine writer and graduate of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Mr Singh lives and works in New Delhi. Contributors to the section are defined by their broad vision of the education field and its wider impact on the world.
