London Evening Standard staff appointments

The London Evening Standard has announced promotions for three journalists from its news team.

The appointments come, says the company, a week after official National Readership Survey figures showed that the London Evening Standard's readership was up 127 per cent year-on-year from 620,000 to more than 1,400,000 every day.

Justin Davenport (pictured) has been promoted from Crime Correspondent to Crime Editor, and Mark Prigg from Science and Technology Correspondent to Editor for the same subjects.

Kiran Randhawa who has been a senior Standard reporter for four years is promoted to Health and Social Affairs Correspondent, and Anna Davis rejoins the Evening Standard after a six-month sabbatical teaching journalism in Tanzania, as Education Correspondent.

Russell Lynch joins from Press Association as Business Reporter in the Standard's City Department.

Emer Martin has been appointed News Desk Assistant after completing the post-graduate National Council for the Training of Journalists course in Cardiff.

London Evening Standard editor Geordie Greig said: "I am delighted to be able to announce these appointments which underpin our commitment to quality journalism. The Standard has a brilliant team of dedicated journalists who set the news agenda every day."
