Vienna to host 2011 Congress

WAN-IFRA has announced that the 63rd World Newspaper Congress and 18th World Editors Forum would be held alongside the IFRA Expo in Vienna, Austria, in 2011.

The Expo, the global trade exhibition for the news publishing and media industry, will be held from 10 to 12 October 2011, followed by the Congress and Forum from 13 to 15 October.

More on the Congress and Forum in Vienna, to be hosted by the Austrian Newspaper Association VÖZ, can be found at http://www.wan-ifra.org/vienna2011

Vienna is an ideal venue for the annual meetings of the world’s press, says WAN-IFRA. With its imperial charm, classic architecture and modern lifestyle, Vienna is one of the world's most historic and attractive cities, and boasts a conference infrastructure of the highest standards.

It will be the first time the Congress will be held alongside the IFRA Expo, following the example of 2010 when the Editors Forum, held in conjunction with the Expo in Hamburg, Germany, this week, saw record participation - nearly 600 chief editors and other senior newsroom personnel from more than 86 countries.

The Congress and Forum will return to its traditional June dates in 2012, with a venue to be announced. The Expo will continue its traditional October dates and will be held in Madrid, Spain, from 29 to 31 October 2012.
