Future launches pioneering digital edition for Guitarist

Special interest media group Future Publishing has unveiled a pioneering deluxe iPad edition of Guitarist magazine.

Launched with a free preview edition on Apple's new iOS 5 Newsstand for digital magazines, Guitarist: Deluxe Edition gives readers a unique and interactive customer experience, with all guitar photography and video shot in HD, say the publishers.

Providing the perfect outlet for all the reviews, features and tutorials from the UK's longest established guitar magazine, Guitarist: Deluxe Edition follows in the footsteps of Future’s T3, currently the UK’s most popular digital magazine in the App Store.

Including world exclusive videos of blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa in his Los Angeles home, first-class artist and product photography plus gear reviews which you can read, watch, listen and play along to, this is the perfect brand extension and the latest digital innovation from Future.

Equipment reviews benefit from audio and video demonstrations so readers can hear the gear in the hands of expert guitar players. Integrated audio tutorials allow readers to listen to demonstrations, while also reading the musical notes. This provides a much more integrated experience and allows musicians to get the most out of the expert content on offer. Interviews with top musicians are also brought to life with behind-the-scenes filming.

Mick Taylor, Editor of Guitarist, says: “This is hugely exciting as it provides the perfect medium to engage with our readers on a higher level, showcase our world-class quality photography, specialist tutorials and exclusive celebrity interviews. We’ve included a fantastic blend of audio and visual effects with the same great content you’d find in the print magazine.”

Mark Wood, CEO of Future UK, says: “Future’s continued success as a digital publisher is fuelled by innovations such as the Guitarist: Deluxe Edition for iPad, which launches directly into the new Apple Newsstand. The Newsstand offers us huge potential as it enables consumers to find the content of their choice and access it wherever and whenever they want. Future’s position as the number one magazine licensor in the UK is built not only on our expert content and the global appeal of our brands, but our continued inspiration and dedication to digital innovation.”

A free preview of Guitarist: Deluxe Edition for iPad is available to download for on Newsstand now. Single issues will be available for £2.99 along with subscriptions offers. Future Publishing recently won Best Digital Publisher – Consumer at the AOP awards and has over 55 titles available on the Apple Newsstand, including deluxe editions of T3, Tap! and Guitarist.
