Sun-Times Media selects DTI

Digital Technology International has announced that it has signed an agreement with Sun-Times Media Productions, Chicago, to implement DTI ContentPublisher to manage the production of its more than 60 websites and 50 print publications.

They will all be hosted in DTI Cloud, the company’s securely hosted cloud computing SaaS environment, and will streamline operations for Sun-Times Media without the capital investment required for an on-premise installation.

“Working with DTI is a critical part of enhancing our Web-first content strategy and platform for all of our publications,” said Fred Lebolt, senior vice president, news operations, Sun-Times Media. “We chose DTI after a long, thorough vetting process, and were impressed with the experience it has with implementing newsroom systems for media companies across the U.S. and abroad. In addition, by deploying a single editorial system across the company, we will be able to fully utilize the extraordinary news-gathering capabilities of our newsrooms.”

DTI ContentPublisher’s integrated workflow will enable Sun-Times Media’s newsrooms to share copy editing and page design resources, as well as multimedia content, across the group. Through cloud computing DTI Cloud provides Sun-Times Media a dramatic way to increase efficiency in the news production process, and the ability to respond to the constantly changing demands of digital news publishing.

Jeffrey Kane, vice president, technology, Sun-Times Media, said, “DTI’s cloud computing technology will provide the flexibility we need to access our media from anywhere, anytime. Managed Services will keep our technology current, our data secure, and make it possible for us to keep pace with the application as it continues to evolve.”

Dan Paulus, vice president, sales, DTI, added, “With DTI Cloud, Sun-Times Media will leverage immediate benefits, such as always having the latest version of the software without having to wait for an upgrade. Because the technology will be managed by DTI, Sun-Times Media can further focus on their audiences and their content.

“DTI Cloud was selected for its secure highly redundant data centre, abundant bandwidth and the highest level of network availability in the industry. Increased print and Web collaboration will greatly improve operational efficiencies and allow for split-second Web publishing, ideal for breaking news stories and delivering up-to-the-minute information.”
